Safe Touch and Internet Safety for Parents Only - PTG Presentation

JF&CS is delighted to offer the parent preview of the Child Abuse Prevention Program.  We hope that you will benefit from the information being presented.  We realize that the subject matter is a difficult one.  The intent of this program is not to alarm you, but rather to provide a better understanding of the prevention of child abuse, and the way to best assist your children in the learning of prevention and response skills. The Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP) teaches child safety, abuse recognition and abuse prevention.  Children are taught in a safe and non-threatening manner designed to entertain and inform them.  Videos, songs, child-friendly props and other activities are incorporated into the program.  The children learn how to distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate touching, learn and practice response skills, understand tricks used by potential abusers, identify people who can help and most importantly, understand that it would NEVER be their fault.

Shoulder Time with Your Children

Image
Take time to hang out with your kids and just listen and be.  Let them know you are there.  Silence is good.  In fact, tell yourself to stop talking -  just listen.  Reflect and let your child process, sort and figure out his or her own thoughts.  You may be surprised what your children are wanting and willing to share when you are around and ready to listen.   Tips to Build Strong Parent / Child Connections
