Concord Counseling Updates

    Our fourth and fifth grade students shared sidewalk chalk quotes last week.  The rain has washed them away but, we hope the words hold true in their minds and hearts for years to come.  If you have a saying, poem, quote or words of encouragement you recite to help you keep your focus, please share them with your children in those natural moments of life.

Thank you to our P.T.G. for sponsoring our sensory boxes for all our classrooms this past month. The students have access to these fidget or calming tools to help them self regulate emotions and energy within the classroom learning environment.  

          Keeping the Balance!

  I statements are meant to be proactive words that help others understand your point of view in any situatuion.  I statements also share how you are feeling and offer a possible solution from  Kelso's Wheel.  An I statement could sound like this, "Sarah, I like it when we swing at recess.  I enjoy our talk time.  Do you want to swing again tomorrow?"  OR "Sarah, I don't like it when we argue.  It makes me feel sad.  Let's take turns deciding what we play at recess." As the opportunity arises, please encourage your children to use their I statements.

     We have been encouraging goal setting school wide this quarter. Thank you for helping your child think about and set goals for home and school. Goals help us gain confidence, realize our likes and dislikes and help develop our character.                                    Way to grow Concord!
