I Statements

I statements are meant to be proactive words that help others understand your point of view in any situatuion.  I statements also share how you are feeling and offer a possible solution from Kelso's Wheel.
An I statement could sound like this, "Sarah, I like it when we swing at recess.  I enjoy our talk time.  Do you want to swing again tomorrow?"  OR "Sarah, I don't like it when we argue.  It makes me feel sad.  Let's take turns deciding what we play at recess."
As the opportunity arises, please encourage your children to use their I statements.
