Peaceful Present

Image
Hawn State Park, Farmington, Missouri - During flyer vision today we practiced the skill of clearing our minds by focusing on the rolling stream in this video.  I encouraged the students to erase thoughts that enter into their mind during this exercise and only focus on the water and it's peace.  We practiced this exercise for 30 seconds.   I hope our children will begin to recognize when their minds are clamoring in different directions and learn to pull their focus to the now.     This is a skill we all can practice to help us enjoy the present.

Study Skills K-5

Our counseling lesson this past rotation focused on habits for being a good student.  We spoke repeatedly about good sleep habits every night, good nutrition (fruits/vegetables/protein/water) throughout each day, and daily exercise and play!           We also incorporated writing within our lesson to show the habits we already own or need to own.  Feel free to stop by and read our entries outside the counseling room and across the hall from our library.
